Guyana is the only nation state of the Commonwealth of Nations on the mainland of South America.

Guyana extends over an area of almost 83,000 square miles on the northeast shoulder of the South American continent. The country mainly runs southward and inland for 450 miles. Guyana borders on Venezuela and Suriname.

North-east of South America. Guyana has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Brazil is located to its south, Venezuela to its west and Suriname to its east.
